A vigorous, flowing, and challenging style of practice in which the teacher gives individual instruction for a set series of postures. The students arrive to class within the practice window, and works through the sequence as they progress at their own pace.

Developed in the town of Mysore in South India by students of the venerable Krishnamacharya, Ashtanga derives its name from Patanjali’s Yoga Sturas in which eight (“ashta”) limbs (“anga”) combine to help cultivate a sustained focus of the mind on objects of meditation, which in this case include the breath, the gaze, and the inner strength centers of the body. Sticking to the practice with discipline and dedication provides a system in which students may observe measurable growth on and off the mat. This practice is a personal path to cultivating yoga within.

Students are strongly encouraged to practice at least three times a week and commit to at least a month to memorize the sequence and develop individual responsibility for their own practice.

The room is heated for Morning Mysore.

Jarrick Browner

Jarrick, also known as The Floating Yogi, currently in his Third Series of Ashtanga Yoga, has immersed himself in the practice of yoga and embraced its philosophy since 2014. His 200-hour training was in in Power and Dharma Yoga, and his 300-hour training focused on Ashtanga Yoga through the Roots Love School. Jarrick's teachers were Faith Scimecca and Marie Belle Perez Rivera (with a heavy influence from anime!). He views yoga as not just a physical exercise but as a therapeutic journey for the mind, body, and energetic self.

His perspective on the Mysore style of practice emphasizes the therapeutic benefits, enabling practitioners to move at their own pace and take control of their journey. This approach allows individuals to delve into the intricacies of the mind, energy, body structure, and alignment, fostering a deep understanding of the connections among them. Through this awareness, one can identify and overcome obstacles hindering twists, reaches, or balance, while rejuvenating different aspects of the self.

Jarrick’s kind, gentle and knowledgeable manner create an open and safe space for students. Beyond the mat, he guides individuals in seamlessly integrating the lessons learned during practice into their daily lives, promoting a holistic approach to well-being.

Jeselene Andrade

Jeselene’s yoga journey began in India while working in villages with women to promote maternal health. The physical practice was introduced to her by her host mother who practiced every morning and invited her to join. During four  months in India, her relationship with yoga began to flourish and once she returned to the states her practice took off.

While practicing with Jeselene you can expect to have an open and grounded practice that will allow the mind to become more in tune with the physical body, leaving it feeling clear and aware. Through the session, the focus will be placed on maintaining stable energy throughout the flow and keeping a consistent rhythm of breath that will assist with identifying the areas of discomfort in practice and everyday life. Jeselene has a special interest in making the practice accessible to all levels and bodies, as well as expecting mothers.

Jeselene’s sessions pick from various styles of yoga that include Ashtanga, Dharma, and Yin. She is a 500hr RYT from Roots Love Yoga School led by Marie Belle Perez Rivera, along with other workshop training in topics such as anatomy, functional medicine, Ashtanga yoga, and pre and post-natal. Jeselene practices Mysore daily with Faith Scimecca, Jarrick Browner, and Marie Belle Perez. She is a mother to a beautiful baby girl and also holds a BA in Community Health & Biology and a Masters in Public Health.
