All-Levels hatha classes offer a well-rounded practice that includes the basics as well as options for more challenging modifications. From Sanskrit, hatha means the “force” of union between the sun’s power and the moon’s calm, with a focus on one posture at a time. Depending on the teacher's style and background, these classes may include flowing sequences such as sun salutations, and/or standing or floor-based sequences on the day's particular theme. Appropriate for any student with any amount of yoga experience.

Andrea Kiss

Andrea is trained as a trauma-informed teacher who creates an atmosphere where students feel compassionate, safe, and welcome. As a former professional dancer, instructor, and choreographer, she believes that beauty and harmony can be found in any movement, and explores a wide range of yoga methods to help students open up to a place where they can welcome back lost parts, to be with their stories – no matter how difficult – and to have the somatic experience that allow them to be fully present.

A graduate of Sun & Moon's advanced teacher training, Andrea has been teaching yoga since 2003, including classes, privates, teacher trainings and retreats internationally. She is a Reflexology practitioner and a decluttering consultant. In 2025, Andrea became a certified as a Compassionate Inquiry Therapist with Dr. Gabor Mate and Sat Dharam Kaur. Andrea has also trained in Yoga Trance Dance with Siva Rea, and Children's Yoga with Mariann Csiki.

Andrea builds on her love of rhythm and harmony and incorporates into her practice various elements of all the yoga she has studied throughout the years.

From a longtime student:

I've been taking classes with Andrea for years now, and I can say without hesitation – she is unlike any other yoga teacher I've ever encountered. What sets her apart isn’t just her depth of knowledge or her creative approach to movement, but the way she brings her full self into the room, every single time.

She shares from her own life – moments of struggle, insight, transformation – and weaves those experiences into the fabric of each class. That honesty creates a kind of sacred space, where movement becomes more than physical – it becomes a journey inward.

Andrea gently reminds us never to push into pain, but rather to listen deeply to our bodies. “You are your best teacher,” she often says, a phrase that has slowly sunk into my bones over the years. Still, she challenges us to find our “edge” – not the breaking point, but that precise place where growth happens.

She’s constantly introducing new ways of moving, new ways of being in our bodies, and each one feels like a gift. Her classes are never one-size-fits-all. Andrea sees each of us as individuals and somehow crafts every session to serve the highest and best in everyone.

What she's created isn’t just a yoga class. It’s a sanctuary.

Suzanne Romness

Suzanne began practicing yoga in 2003 when she decided, as a runner for over 30 years, that she needed to slow down and find some balance in her life.  She credits the teachers at Sun & Moon Yoga Studio in helping her find that balance both on and off the yoga mat.  To enhance her yoga practice she decided to become a yoga teacher. She received her certification through Sun & Moon's In-Depth program in 2014 and is a student in the Dharma Program 300 hour advanced teacher training at the studio.

In addition to yoga in the hatha and vinyasa styles, Suzanne teaches teens, kids yoga and soccer, and is a preschool teacher and a certified personal trainer. She likes to remind her students to listen to their breath and let it be the guide in their practice and life.

Amir Tahami

In his weekly public classes, yoga therapy workshops, and private one-on-one yoga therapy sessions,  Amir works attentively with students who want an enhanced quality of life through a plainspoken and sensible approach to health and well-being. His innovative techniques blending traditional Indian and Thai yoga influences with restorative postures, therapeutic applications, and somatic movement help students move gently forward on a path of healing, and encourages taking the mindfulness of yoga practice into everyday life. He has thousands of hours of training with teachers including Aadil Palkhivala, Tias Little, Rodney Yee, Doug Keller, and Leslie Kaminoff, and is also certified in Thai Yoga Therapy. Amir is an avid amateur hockey player, recently fulfilled a lifelong dream to design and build his own custom home, and is also known to herd cats.

Amir provides abundant and detailed instructions for how to move the human body, and takes his classes and workshops through the paces to practice alignment, energy movement, and clarity of mind. “Paying attention to the body is the hardest part,” he says. But when he’s dictating just exactly what to do with your shoulder blades – like leading with the blades in cat and cow, as opposed to the spine, or how to create space between each vertebra or what to do to stretch your connective tissue – the mind becomes laser-focused. He offers wisdom on anatomy and how to bring the lessons of healing into daily life – for knees, neck, back, shoulders, hips, and other parts that have been beaten down from work, injury, disease, aging, or disuse. He provides the tools to practice these maneuvers at home and then wants you to go out there and live: play sports, climb mountains, expand your reach with a body that can.

Annie Moyer

Since 2003, Annie has taught yoga, meditation, and yoga philosophy to thousands of yoga students in public classes at Sun & Moon, in corporate settings, in private one-on-one sessions, as part of basic and advanced teacher trainings, and on retreats.

In 2025, Annie completed a Master of Divinity degree from Naropa University with a specialty in Buddhist-based Chaplaincy, and works part-time as an interfaith chaplain at Sibley Memorial Hospital.

During her former career as a high school English teacher, Annie began practicing yoga in the 1990s in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, D.C., in a casual apartment setting with a small group of neighbors and one devoted teacher. For five years straight, the group gathered weekly for yoga postures and meditation on a simple wood floor with one cotton blanket each, and much laughter and mutual support.

After her twins were born in 1999, Annie moved to Arlington, VA, and completed teacher training in 2002 at Sun & Moon Yoga, with the intention of bringing yoga philosophy back into the high school classroom. She designed a literature/writing class called Philosophy of Yoga at HB Woodlawn Secondary Program from 2008 to 2017, which students took as their English elective.

Over the years Annie’s role at Sun & Moon has evolved, and since 2010 she has served as Studio Director, overseeing both studio locations with 100-plus classes per week; quarterly programs including workshops, teacher trainings, and visiting guest teachers; marketing and communications; and a large community volunteer program.

Annie is also the co-founder of Awakening Yoga Spaces, a coalition of yoga and wellness communities committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the yoga world, with a primary focus on making Yoga Teacher Trainings more accessible to members of the BIPOC community as a way of dismantling structures of racism and marginalization.

Annie lives in Arlington with her partner Amir Tahami (senior teacher and co-owner of Sun & Moon), their fluffy Persian cats, and the rescue dog and snuggle-artist Currently Known As Prince. The now-adult twins can often be found nearby, sharing meals, dog walks, and a yoga class now and then.

Anne Jablonski

Anne teaches a playful, openhearted style of Freedom Yoga, blending what's most appropriate in the moment based on what she's tinkering with in her own practice and who shows up for class. She guides students to trust their intuition and encourages persistent, gentle curiosity to keep the practice fresh and compelling. Anne nudges students toward a creative and alignment-savvy asana practice that erases tight spots and stills the mind's chatter.

Anne’s teaching draws on inspiration from her own practice and her most influential teachers, including: Erich Schiffmann, every fine poet, her cheeky teacher within, and a magical place in Montana called the Feathered Pipe Ranch. She is E-RYT 500-hour Yoga Alliance registered through Sun & Moon. In 2025 she completed a 300-hour training in a modality called "Movingness," a somatic-centric approach to refining movement patterns, releasing fascia, and embodying natural states of flow. Movingness is an affiliated member organization of ISMETA, the International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy Association.

Gayle Fleming

Gayle began practicing yoga in 1976. She is passionate in her belief that yoga is for every body, that the breath is as important as the pose, and that authentic yoga is a gift to the world that she is called upon to share. She blends various styles and techniques of asana to fit the class and the student. She received her 200-hour certificate at Sun & Moon, her 500-hour at Willow Street Yoga and her Yoga Therapy training with Integrative Yoga Therapy.

Michelle Chapman Campbell

Michelle believes spiritual reflection and yoga practices ignite the healing of the mind, body and spirit. As a professional chaplain with a Doctor of Ministry degree Michelle recognized the wisdom of Yoga to heal and utilized the yogic practices to support people in health crisis, addiction recovery, and mental health challenges. Perfection is not achievable and Michelle works really hard at not taking herself to seriously. Yoga is a delicious art to delight, heal, calm, ground the human spirit and live fully.  Michelle is delighted to join the Sun & Moon community as a student and teacher, having completed 200 RYT with Breathe for Change, Y12SR with Nikki Myers, Yin Yoga with Yael Flusberg, and is currently a student of the In-Depth 300-hour Dharma Program at Sun & Moon. Now retired from clinical chaplaincy, Michelle is embarking on a new season in her yogic journey.  She is excited to join you on the mat to experience where the Divine winds are blowing. It is a free fall of faith and we will all arrive at our destinations better because of the journey.

Michelle's classes are a slow to moderate eclectic use of asana, meditation and breath, honoring what we bring to the mat when we come together to practice.

Emily Doolittle

Emily began attending yoga classes at Sun & Moon in Arlington in 2014 and immediately fell in love! The combination of a full time job that requires sitting at a desk in front of a computer all day and a significant case of scoliosis led her in search of something to reduce back and hip pain. Yoga was it! Shortly after beginning her yoga practice, those who know her well noticed improvements in her posture and she discovered that her pain was greatly reduced.

In addition to her work as an education research analyst and teaching yoga, Emily studies piano, enjoys visiting art museums, and loves reading.

Emily is completing the Sun & Moon In-Depth 200-hour Foundations Program as of the summer of 2024 and is excited to share her love of yoga and its therapeutic benefits with others. Her classes focus on mindful movement, flexibility, strength, and balance.

Michelle Brown

Michelle first came to yoga to support her lifelong passion for movement and sports. What began as a way to stay physically balanced quickly deepened into a practice that offered healing, clarity, compassion, and a profound sense of inner peace.

With a background in education, Michelle brings a thoughtful and therapeutic approach to her teaching. She blends intelligent sequencing with a heartfelt commitment to making yoga accessible, empowering, and deeply nourishing for the body, mind, and heart.

Michelle is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 500), trained through a therapeutic and alignment-based program that emphasizes mindful sequencing, functional movement, and personalized support to meet students where they are.
