A research-based program of essential practices shown to support a healthy, invigorating lifespan. Each class begins with a simple breathing practice and moves into a range of static and dynamic postures focused on flexibility, agility, balance and strength. Class additionally incorporates therabands to build strength, and methods for safely getting up and down from the floor with confidence. Rixie believes that healthy feet are a key component of aging, and thus includes foot care and strengthening exercises in each class. Perfect for anyone who wants to take their yoga with them through many years ahead.
Asya Haikin
Asya enjoys making yoga accessible to everyone, and using breath and gentle movement to ground ourselves in the present moment. Asya is a certified yoga therapist and certified iRest meditation teacher, specializing in helping those with chronic pain, mobility limitations, and anxiety. She has been teaching at Sun & Moon since 2001.
Rixie Dennison
Rixie has been Sun & Moon certified yoga teacher since 2000. Also a life coach and reflexologist, Rixie leads women's retreats locally and internationally. Her gentle, yet energetic approach to yoga enables students to explore their mind, body, spirit connection in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Certified in Yoga for Healthy Aging, Rixie has been teaching this specialized class in Fairfax since 2015. Always with a smile, Rixie's unique approach to teaching moves everyone to a more balanced place in their lives.
