In celebration of birth-givers in all four trimesters, this class offers guidance in strengthening and relaxing your miraculous body before and after birth. Focus is on breath, community, and special modifications in yoga postures to support the prenatal and the postnatal body, mind, and spirit. Postnatal students will find the support of peers while baby stays at home with another caregiver. Prenatal students will find inspiration and community as they prepare for the big event.



Kate Hoefer

As a high school science teacher since 2013 and into the pandemic, Kate finally decided that, for her own happiness and well-being, she'd work towards certification as a yoga teacher. She dove headfirst into Sun and Moon's In-Depth Foundations teacher training program, and it was the best decision she could have made! Yoga practice has always brought Kate balance, calm, and both physical and mental strength. She hopes that her students will receive the same joy through their practice. As a prenatal yoga teacher, Kate believes that during and after pregnancy, it is imperative that new parents care for themselves. This can be for physical reasons, or just to breathe.  Her own experience during pregnancy as a student at Sun & Moon in Fairfax solidified her love for this specific practice. A few of Kate's favorite things are: cats, the ocean, manatees, making quilts and costumes, rocks, and her family. 

Michelle Donahue

With a passion for fitness and wellness, Michelle's vision is to reach others where they are in their fitness journey and help them reach their goals while recognizing the integrated nature of mind, body, and spirit. She has over 30 years of experience in personal training and group fitness, including corporate wellness, with extensive knowledge of all components of fitness. Teaching experience includes mat pilates, yoga, step aerobics, high-low impact dance aerobics, cycling, running, swimming, aquatic fitness, weightlifting, body conditioning, trekking, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), senior fitness, Zumba, slide, Strong by Zumba, ICG Cycle, Mall Walkers, Silver Sneakers, PIYO, Burn, and Les Mills Body Pump. Michelle is informed and works sensitively with special populations, including large bodies, diastasis recti, scoliosis, multiple sclerosis, and hypermobility.
